Owen Griffiths joined the staff of the Australian Museum after completing a zoology degree at the University of New South Wales. At the museum, he worked in Entomology and Malacology, specializing in non-marine molluscs. In 1984, he moved to Mauritius with his Mauritian-born wife Mary-Ann to establish Bioculture (Mauritius) Ltd. Since thenz, he has worked extensively on the non-marine molluscs of the Mascarene Islands, Seychelles, Madagascar and the Comoros. Owen is a Research Associate of the Australian Museum and is a dedicated conservationist involved in native forest protection and restoration in Mauritius and Madagascar, and re-wilding in Rodrigues.
Owen is extremely passionate about science and conservation and has led various conservation activities through the Ebony Forest and Biodiversity Conservation Madagascar charities.
