I was born into a modest family, which taught me the value of hard work from a young age. At the age of 12, my father introduced me to construction sites, where I began to learn practical skills and focus on my self-improvement. Since then, I have taken on various part-time jobs during school holidays, including roles as a supermarket caddie, a bartender, a face painter during holiday seasons, and an internship as a salesman at Speedfreight Ltd.
I initially joined the University of Mauritius (UOM) for two years but later decided to pursue a new path at the Mauritius Institute of Education (MIE) to become a Primary School Teacher. At first, I was drawn to this profession primarily for the job security it offered. However, my perspective shifted profoundly as I witnessed the positive impact I could have on my students. I began to see myself as a source of inspiration, particularly for those facing challenges in their daily lives.
My commitment to education extends beyond the classroom. I am actively involved in the "Vac'Actives" program, sponsored by Caritas, which provides two weeks of educational and emotional support to children in Rivière Noire. I have been given the opportunity to take on a leadership role for the program in 2024, which I eagerly anticipate.
Additionally, I work twice a week with an association that offers educational and pedagogical support to children in need. However, I recently noticed that the organization's focus was more on political motivations than on the children themselves, which I find disheartening.
Having observed the meaningful work being done by Quartier de Lumière for children and the community, I feel a strong alignment with my values as an educator and, more importantly, as a human being. I am committed to fostering an environment that prioritizes the well-being and development of children, ensuring they receive the support they deserve.
Thank you for considering my application. I am eager to contribute to an organization that shares my dedication to education and community support.
