I have studied electrical & electronic engineering at the University of Mauritius and graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in 2004. I obtained employment as cadet electrical engineer at the Central Electricity Board (CEB) in 2005. CEB is a parastatal company which is responsible for generation, transmission, distribution, and sales of electricity in Mauritius. It is the only licensed company in Mauritius which has the right to sell electricity and is empowered by the Central Electricity Board Act 1963.
After following two and a half years of apprenticeship at CEB and obtaining my registration with the Council of Registered & Professional Engineers of Mauritius, I was appointed as electrical engineer at CEB in 2008. I have around 15 years of working experience in the energy sector.
I also possess a Master in Business Administration from the University of South Wales, UK since 2018.
I am currently studying for a Master of Engineering Degree (Electrical Systems) through distance learning with Engineering Institute of Technology at Perth, Australia since January 2023.
During apprenticeship at CEB, I obtained training in the following sections:
· Thermal power generation station
· Sub-station maintenance section
· Network distribution section (Construction, Operation & Maintenance)
· Planning & projects section (Distribution network)
· System control section
· Revenue Protection (Fraudulent use of meter) section
After registration with CRPE of Mauritius in 2008, I was posted at the Planning & Projects section and have worked on several projects. The planning and project section has the responsibility of designing and planning of Medium Voltage and Low Voltage network following requests from prospective customers. The design for construction of new MV and LV network is done in conformance with IEC standards.
Reconstruction of old and obsolete MV networks are also planned and designed with the objective of improving CEB’s grid and providing more reliable power connection to its customers. CEB can pride itself of having satisfactory SAIFI and SAIDI over the past years.
